Two wolves standing side by side, referencing the Good Wolf parable about intention and self-control

Where does “Good Wolf” come from?

The name Good Wolf comes from the old story of the two wolves. A grandfather tells his grandson that inside each of us are two wolves. One driven by fear, anger, and doubt; the other by calm, courage, and compassion. When the boy asks which wolf wins, the grandfather replies, “the one you feed.”

That message reflects what this practice stands for.

In sports, performance, and daily life, the same tension exists. The drive to achieve can fuel growth or create burnout, depending on how it’s channeled and which wolf you feed. At Good Wolf Sports Psychiatry, the goal is to help you strengthen the parts of yourself that support focus, resilience, and well-being while quieting the habits and pressures that get in the way.

Care here is not about perfection. It’s about balance, awareness, and learning to feed the right wolf. Through psychotherapy, mindfulness, and thoughtful use of medication, we’ll build the mental skills and insights that allow you to perform, connect, and live more fully.
